L2149. Looking south along an abandoned trackbed towards bridge 342, the girder structure built to carry Forest Road across the Last Main Line, and from which passengers descended a staircase to reach Quorn & Woodhouse Station. On the left, two volunteers of the Great Central Railway preserved line are employed in ballasting the permanent way. During the 1990s, large investment allowed the railway to restore this eight mile stretch of the London Extension to double track.
