Weighbridge Office at Swithland Sidings, Leicestershire

Weighbridge Office at Swithland Sidings, Leicestershire

Go back to the records from the Rothley map.
L2117. A regrettable image of the former weighbridge office at Swithland Sidings. Built to a standard design that could be found replicated along the route of the London Extension, this Great Central relic stood at the northern end of the sidings, close to the brick arch bridge that carried the Line over Main Street. In better days, the weighing machine itself would have been on this side of the building. Looking at this scene of dereliction, it is difficult to believe that the Railway had closed just a little more than eight years before this picture was taken.
