L2114. Situated within the central brick pier of Rothley Station bridge, this room was of a standard design that could be found replicated along the length of the London Extension. When the photograph was taken in March 1978, it was being used as a mess room by the people working on the Great Central preserved line. Note the hearth on the right of the picture: smoke from this fire would escape out of the prominent chimney stack incorporated into the Station's entrance.
