Bridge 359 - Thurcaston, Leicester

Bridge 359 - Thurcaston, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Thurcaston map.
L2098. A snapshot of dereliction, photographed looking west at the girder occupation bridge that was built to carry the Last Main Line over a farm track near Thurcaston. Despite the railway having closed just nine years before this picture was taken, both the embankment and the bridge's wing walls are quickly being overtaken by weeds and undergrowth. Note the lattice work iron parapet: a typical feature of the London Extension.
