Bridge 361 - Birstall, Leicester

Bridge 361 - Birstall, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Thurcaston map.
L2093. Looking north along the abandoned trackbed towards bridge 361, a three arch brick structure with a span of 25' 9'. Photographed just nine years after the closure of the Line, the undergrowth has already reclaimed the slopes of the cutting. It is sad to reflect that these bridges were built in the genuine expectation of the Railway being widened in order to accommodate extra tracks: an optimistic dream that never materialised.
