Demolition at Belgrave & Birstall Station, Leicester

Demolition at Belgrave & Birstall Station, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Thurcaston map.
L2088. A view north along the platform of Belgrave & Birstall Station. Following the Line's closure in 1969, continued vandalism had rendered the station buildings unsafe, leaving the Main Line Steam Trust with little option but to embark on a course of demolition. Much of this material was salvaged however, and is still kept for use on the current route of the Great Central Railway's preserved line.
