L2086. A rather haunting reminder of the staircase at Belgrave & Birstall Station, captured around Easter 1975. Six years before, passengers had walked from their train and climbed these steps for the last time. Note the decorative archway, a fine relic of Victorian aesthetics and of the grand expression that accompanied so much of the nineteenth century's railway construction.
