Bridge 368 - Blackbird Road, Leicester

Bridge 368 - Blackbird Road, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L2069. Another familiar landmark for the residents of Leicester was Bridge 368 where it crossed over Blackbird Road. The plate-girder double-span bridge, seen here in May 1977, was photographed close to the junction with Parker Drive and for many years carried a painted advertisement for 'H. A. HAMSHAW LTD.' of Parker Drive. The painted wording read 'H. A. HAMSHAW LTD. SERVICE. SALES AND PARTS DEPT. PARKER DRIVE' on one of the spans, and 'MORRIS. RILEY. MORRIS COMMERCIAL' was painted on the other. All of the wording can be clearly seen in this south-east facing photograph, as can the remains of a tall lattice signal post.
