Slater Street Bridge - Leicester

Slater Street Bridge - Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L2062. This plate girder span carried the London Extension over Slater Street in the Frog Island area of Leicester. The photograph was taken in May 1977 looking north along the viaduct towards the River Soar bridge and Birstall. In spite of nearly eight years of closure, the trackbed is still remarkable clear. Today, the bridge and the viaduct behind the camera had been demolished, but the section beyond the bridge is still standing - as is the lone signal post seen in the distance.
