Leicester Viaduct - Bridge 374

Leicester Viaduct - Bridge 374

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L2050. Both the northern and southern approaches to Leicester Central Station were carried on bridges, and even the station itself sat on top of the viaduct that spanned the city. The southern approach crossed two plate girder spans over Bath Lane and Welles Street, with this February 1977 image showing the latter, looking west. Today in 2003, the bridge no longer stands.
