Former Great Central Goods Offices in Leicester

Former Great Central Goods Offices in Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L2034. Standing on the corner of Western Boulevard in Leicester was the large office building serving the Great Central railway's Goods Yard. The building was built of red brick and was of typical the Great Central style of architecture. By the time that this photograph was taken in May 1977, the building was occupied by the Roadline delivery company (later to become Lynx). Today in 2003, the building has been razed and replaced by more modern office buildings. Note the old Kirby & West dairy buildings next to the offices and the GCR Braunstone Gate girder bridge in the background.
