Bridge 378 - Upperton Road - in Leicester

Bridge 378 - Upperton Road - in Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L2029. Looking north from Bridge 378 over the old goods yard in May 1977. In the middle distance is the original GCR Goods Shed, while in the foreground are girder bridges 375 (to the left) and 376 (in the centre). The tracks crossing Bridge 376 lead from the Leicester - Burton line spur and lead into Vic Berry's scrap yard where all of the old rolling stock stands. The old main line ran over Bridge 375 and off into the distance. Today in 2003, the scrap yard and goods shed have gone - replaced by a business and housing development. However the bridges still remain and the Great Central Way footpath now occupies the old main line trackbed.
