L1980. Bridge 409 was originally built as a brick and girder span that carried Cosby Lane over the railway. This bridge was later replaced by the current concrete decked bridge sometime before the railway closed 1969. As can be seen in this photograph taken in May 1977, the bridge has been fitted with steel smoke deflectors that mark the position of steam locomotive chimneys on the old running lines. | |
