Chamber inside Bridge 413 - Ashby Magna Station

Chamber inside Bridge 413 - Ashby Magna Station

Go back to the records from the Dunton Bassett map.
L1974. All of the stations on the London Extension that were accessed by the public from a road above, featured a chamber like this one in the road bridge's central pier. This one, at the former Ashby Magna Station, was perhaps used as a store room or a porters room. The subsidiary arches create an interesting effect, giving the chamber an almost medieval feel. The photograph was taken in May 1977.
