Former platelayers hut near Cotesbach in Leicestershire.

Former platelayers hut near Cotesbach in Leicestershire.

L1942. To the north of the now completely demolished Bridge 428, a concrete platelayers cabin stands curiously next to the vanished trackbed which has now returned to ploughland. The flat roofed cabin was constructed from concrete panels and had a door at one end with a window along the side. This June 1977 photograph shows the cabin to be in good order, despite having not seen a platelayer since 1969.
