Bridge 429 near Cotesbach in Leicestershire.

Bridge 429 near Cotesbach in Leicestershire.

Go back to the records from the Cotesbach map.
L1940. Bridge 429 was one of the many brick built three-arched bridges over the London Extension. The two running lines ran beneath the central arch, but the bridges were designed so that extra lines could be laid through the side arches if required. This photograph taken in June 1977 shows Bridge 429, looking north. The trackbed is remarkably clear, although the cutting sides have got a thick covering of shrubs. Today in 2003, this shallow cutting has been filled in.
