Bridge 436 near Shawell in Leicestershire

Bridge 436 near Shawell in Leicestershire

Go back to the records from the Newton map.
L1932. Having crossed the now demolished Bridge 437 over the A5 (Watling Street), northbound trains would pass Shawell Signal Box and then pass over this small brick-arch occupation bridge. This June 1977 view of Bridge 436 is taken facing the northwest and clearly illustrates how the old railway was going back to nature at this time.
