L1885. An assembled group pose for Newton's camera during the construction of the viaduct built to carry the Upperton Road across the London Extension. Note the Midland Railway's mineral wagons, and the lifting gear that can be seen above the steel girder. Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton was the firm contracted to build this section of the Line (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
