L1850. The back half of the former Great Central Railway locomotive shed in Leicester looking north. The shed was 300 ft long by 97 ft wide and once housed a complement of twenty-one locomotives. The shed's turntable and yards were in the foreground, while the GCR main line was off to the left running north to south. Behind the photographer is the Leicester to Burton line. Note the 'north lit' type roof on the shed.
