Viaduct and generator house, Jarvis Street, Leicester

Viaduct and generator house, Jarvis Street, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L1763. Looking north at the Leicester viaduct from Jarvis Street, circa 1960. On the extreme left of the picture is the generator house, thought to have been built to provide the city's nearby Great Central Station with power. The generator house is still standing today, whereas the building to the right of this has since been demolished. Note the signals just visible at about the point where a girder bridge carried the viaduct across All Saints Road.
