Great Central generator house, Jarvis Street, Leicester

Great Central generator house, Jarvis Street, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L1761. Photographed in 1963, this is a view of the Great Central's generator house on Jarvis Street. The building stood opposite the viaduct on which Leicester Central was built, and presumably this facility provided the station with power. Unlike so much of the Last Main Line, this lesser known building is actually still standing.
