Main line and signal box near Leicester Central Station

L1756. Taken from the south end of Leicester Central in December 1970, this photograph captures a signal box shortly before it was demolished. The station had closed in May 1969, when the last remnant of the Great Central line, the service between Rugby and Nottingham, was finally terminated.
