Signal box close to Northgates bridge, Leicester

Signal box close to Northgates bridge, Leicester

Go back to the records from the Leicester North map.
L1755. Looking north along the line at a signal box close to Northgates bridge. Broken windows aside, the scene is unchanged from the days when locomotives thundered along these rails heading for Leicester Central. In fact the line had been closed for more than a year, and even as this photograph was taken, in December 1970, the nearby station was being demolished.
