L1549. Girder underbridge crossing Blackbird Road, Leicester, circa 1898. The imposing structure and the street scene beneath, capture the impact of the railway age, and the changes it brought to Victorians and their cities. This section of the London Extension (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone) was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton between 1894-1899.
