L1537. Construction of a two arch bridge on the River Soar, thought to be near Western Boulevard, Leicester, 1897. This apparently chaotic scene is a wonderful illustration of bridge building at the end of the nineteenth century. The bridge was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton, the contractor responsible for this section of the Railway (Contract No.2, Leake to Aylestone).
