L1493. Midland Railway's signal box and permanent way, Loughborough, Leicestershire, circa 1897. Beyond is the Great Central's girder bridge, built to carry the London Extension over the existing Midland line. Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton was the contractor responsible for building this section of the Railway (Contract No. 2, Leake to Aylestone).
