L1397. Three-quarter view of the massive girder bridge carrying the London Extension over the Midland Railway's Nottingham Station. The 'bowstring' type structure was similar to others on the line, one of which still survives in Leicester. The bridge featured in this photograph appears to be complete although it is unclear whether there are any tracks laid yet. Beneath the bridge on the Midland line stands one of that company's 2-4-0 tender locomotives. Note the wagon just creeping into the photograph on the right.
