Brick arch bridge at Longwick in Buckinghamshire.

Brick arch bridge at Longwick in Buckinghamshire.

L3324  This is the second of two photographs that feature the brick arch bridge carrying the Great Western & Great Central Joint line over the road at Longwick, Buckinghamshire, close the the Duke of Wellington public house. In comparison to image L3323, this image shows much quieter and calmer scene, as the bridge is now finished and the navvies have moved on. To the left of the bridge, the railway embankment appears to be in the latter stages of completion with the characteristic, almost perfectly smooth sides. To the right, however, it still appears as if work is still required. Note the Duke of Wellington pub and sign on the left of the photograph.
