| L3323 This is one of two photographs that feature the brick arch bridge that carried the Great Western & Great Central Joint line over the road at Longwick, Buckinghamshire, close the the Duke of Wellington public house. This image shows a hive of activity, with navvies swarming over the new bridge. The bridge wing walls are in the process of being built, while the wooden centring is in place and the navvies are working on creating the bridge's main arch. A rather rickety looking wooden scaffold has been erected to the right of the picture, while a navvy with a horse waits below. Two more horse wait beneath the bridge, having brought in a load of bricks on carts. The Duke of Wellington pub sign can be seen on the left. | |
