Rock cutting on the Mountsorrel branch

Rock cutting on the Mountsorrel branch

L2809  A fantastic view captured on the Mountsorrel branch as it winds it way along the floor of a steep rock cutting. Visible beyond is the right half of a brick arch bridge. This single track line was built and operated privately to serve the Mountsorrel granite quarries. It left the Great Central's London Extension at Swithland sidings.
